Bandana Cross

As with many of our games, there are multiple variations out there, due to the fact that they spread by word-of-mouth first and then began getting written down.  This is the one we use.

Purpose:
River Cross teaches collaboration and teamwork skills.

Supplies:
*Bandanas (# depends on group size and how wide your “River” is, and level of difficulty.
*Painter’s tape.
*EASY:  At least a 20-foot expanse and 1 Bandana for every 5 feet of expanse, with 6 or more people on each team.
*MEDIUM:  About a 30-foot expanse with 1 Bandana for every 6 feet of expanse, and 6 or more people on each team.
*HARDER: 30 or more foot expanse with 3 or 4 Bandanas, and 6 or more people on each team.

Objective:
Get your team across the “River” or expanse, while never touching the “water” with anything other than a bandana.

Directions:

1. Mark off the “River” or expanse with painter’s tape.

2. Split everyone into even teams of 6 or more.

3. Give each team bandanas (amount depending on level of difficulty).

4.  Let the teams know that nothing may tough the ground/ “water” except the bandanas until they cross to the other side.
*Any player that touches the ground must return the starting side and try again.

5.  Give them about a minute or 2 to strategize (or not).

6.  Have their teams line up and then yell “GO!”

7.  The team that successfully gets across first wins.
