Eskimo Pie
Eskimo Pie AKA (Eskimos Igloos & Polar Bears)
Both versions of this game are essentially the same except whether you call our “Polar Bears” or “Eskimo Pie.”
Purpose:
Physical Warm-up and it can be a good get-to-know-you game, if they have to introduce themselves to each other as they move around the group.
Directions.
1. Get everyone in the game into groups of three.
2. Explain that there are three commands: Eskimos, Igloos, and Polar Bears (or Eskimo Pie).
3. Have two of the players in each group raise their hands up and clasp or touch each other’s hands to form a roof (the Igloo) over the center player (the Eskimo).
4. Explain the following commands:
a. Eskimos: All the Eskimos run to a new Igloo. (Only one Eskimo per Igloo.)
b. Igloos: All the Igloos (still holding together as one) run around and move
to a new Eskimo. (Eskimos must stay in place.)
c. Polar Bear (or Eskimo Pie): The Igloo’s split apart and everyone scatters
to form entirely new trios of Eskimos and Igloos.
5. Practice it a few times without anyone getting out.
6. Now start the elimination round by various ways, as the leader wishes.
a. The last Eskimo to find an Igloo.
b. The last Igloo pair to find an Eskimo.
c. The last trio to get together.
d. The Eskimo left out in the cold. (No igloo for the Eskimo)
e. The Igloo that is left without an Eskimo. (Abandoned)
f. The group that teams up with players that are already out are out
themselves. (This is good with really large groups so that the game does not go on forever.)
7. The last three people remaining are the winners.
