Wax Museum Tag

As with many of our games, there are multiple variations out there, due to the fact that they spread by word-of-mouth first and then began getting written down.  This is the one we use.

Purpose:
Wax Museum Tag teaches quick thinking, observation, and improvisational skills.

Objective:
The Night Guard tries to catch Wax Statues moving to keep them from tagging him/her.
The Statues try to move, but not get caught, in order reach and tag the Guard’s back.

Directions:

Think Red Light Green Light, Wax Museum Style.  This game works better in a large space like a cafeteria or gym.

1. Pick a Night Guard.

2. Have everyone else go to the opposite side of the room and strike an interesting pose.

3. The Guard will then “Stand at their Post” throughout the game and turn his/her back to the Statues for a few moments and then randomly and unexpectedly turn back around.

4.  When the Guard’s back is to the statues, they may come to life, and move and towards the guard, but must be frozen and “striking a pose” again by the time the Guard turns around to see them.

5.  If the Guard catches a Statue moving, then that Statue must return to the starting point.

6.  The round ends when a statue successfully either tags the Guard.

7.  The winner becomes the next Night Guard, if playing another round.
